October 2008 While the Polish Government is set to approve the goal for adopting the euro-currency by 2012, current funds for the Euro-tournament have been channeled towards road-improvements and facility construction. In the Ukraine an Austrian construction company pulled away from building the soccer stadium in Lviv, further risking the country's right to host the soccer event. September 2008 Poland and Ukraine to remain Euro 2012 host countries. UEFA asked the hosts to step up preparations, however, and will re-evaluate progress in May 2009. Check our Blog for more... Because infrastructure improvements are still moving slower than expected the Government is now looking for help from Chinese firms to build the necessary railways, highways, and sport facilities. June 2008 Uefa president Platini returned satisfied from his visit to Poland after concluding that preparations for the 2012 tournament progress according to plan. April 2008 The Polish press raised concerns that the new stadium in Warsaw will not be finished for the opening match. Uefa is stepping up its pressure.
